Section 1: Definition of Service Area

A. The West Michigan region shall be defined by the counties of Montcalm, Calhoun, St. Joseph, Allegan, Barry, Oceana, Van Buren, Branch, Berrien, Kalamazoo, Kent, Ottawa, Cass, Newaygo, and Muskegon.

Section 2: Membership

A. General Membership

1. Those eligible for membership in the Association shall be comprised of persons from the West Michigan region whose interest relates to the recreation and park profession. General members shall be full-time or part-time professionals and students representing public, private-nonprofit, and educational agencies.

B. Voting Membership

1. Voting membership of the Association shall becomprised of persons from the West Michigan region whose interest relates to the recreation and park profession. Voting members shall be full-time or part-time employees of public and nonprofit agencies and educational institutions.

C. Non-Voting Advocate Membership (Sustaining/associate members)

1. Retirees, seasonal staff, citizen advocates, volunteers, or students committed to the improvement, preservation, and maintenance of the quality of life in West Michigan shall be eligible for membership in the Association as non-voting
members.

D. Eligibility

1. Eligibility for membership in the Association shall be determined by the Secretary and approved by the Board of Directors as set forth herein. The Board of Directors reserves the right to broadly consider each applicant’s professional interest in determining membership designation.
